Welcome to Test Valley DFAS

Chairman: Ali Green

Test Valley Decorative and Fine Arts Society (TVDFAS) is a Member Society of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS).  The aim of the Society is to provide an appreciation and study of the decorative and fine arts.

We enjoy lectures from first class speakers, experts in their field. They cover a wide range of topics in the fine and applied arts, including architecture, furniture, music, ceramics, paintings and many others.

In addition, several visits a year are arranged to historic houses, museums and galleries, theatres, concerts and other places of interest. There are also two Days of Special Interest to look at a subject in greater depth. From time to time a British or overseas trip is arranged.  Members also receive a quarterly magazine.

Welcome to the Test Valley DFAS website!

Airedale Solutions have upgraded the web site to be mobile friendly. If it looks a little odd then please press the F5 key on your keyboard or the circular arrow in your browser whilst viewing the web page. This will remove old pages from your computer so that you can view the new ones.

Froyle Vestments Exhibition

The Froyle Vestments exhibition takes place on Saturday and Sunday 3-4 June 2017 from 1-6pm. There is an amazing collection of 18th century European vestments, collected in Venice a hundred years ago. The collection is considered one of the finest outside a cathedral. There are fine examples of embroidery, silk shading, and gold and silverwork.

The exhibition is free, although a donation is welcomed. There is parking outside the church in Upper Froyle, which is on the A31 between Alton and Farnham.

That weekend eight Froyle gardens are open for the National Gardens Scheme (separate charge, 2-6pm) and teas with homemade cakes are offered in the Village Hall, a few minutes drive away in Lower Froyle. Parking is available near the Hall.

Southampton and Romsey DFAS visits

Romsey DFAS has invited Test Valley DFAS members to join its visits, should its own members not take up the full allocation of tickets.  The next Romsey DFAS visit is to Eltham Palace and Gardens on Tuesday 13 June 2017.  Click here to go to their website for more information.

Help needed finding contacts for Young Arts projects

Test Valley DFAS promotes arts projects for youngsters, usually (though not exclusively) via funding.  However, our message often fails to get through because we don't have the right contact.  Do you know someone who is involved with a school or youth organisation?  If you do, please email Linda King.
